third reflection

Introduction

Technology has brought about a lot of significant changes in the human society. One of the fields which has undergone a rapid change is that of education. Education involve the flow of information and knowledge from the teachers to the students in an oral manner (Harasim, 2017). The purpose of this paper is to understand the changed face of education and how the aspect of technology has helped the students to become more effective in imbibing the knowledge shared.

Discussion

With the advent of technology in the twenty first century, many online learning courses have been introduced (Bates, 2020). The purpose of such courses is to provide more knowledge and information to the students, during the time when they do not have access to a physical teacher.

One of the platforms from where knowledge can be gained is that of Twitter. The field of social media platform has gained considerable significance in the globalized world of today. Twitter has emerged to be one of the dominating platform in social media. It provides information to its users about the occurrences in the globe. The real time feed to the individuals acts as a bonus. This has helped me significantly to be aware about the worldly occurrences and substantiate them with the knowledge which I have acquired from the formal textbooks (Crosslin & al., 2020). In this context, it needs to be noted that unless the theories are complemented with practical knowledge, the learning of the students is not complete.

This aspect of learning can be correlated with the use of videos. The audio visual aids enable the students to see in front of them the knowledge which is to be learnt (Stephenson, 2018). The use of videos is encouraged in the field of education as it helps the children to memorize the subjects in a faster and efficient manner.

Another field which has gained wide spread significance is that of open educational research (Harasim, 2017). Many individuals of the society are unable to pay for their formal education such as me. In this regard, the governments of various countries and several non-governmental organizations have come forward to ensure the flow of knowledge to every individual of the society. The open educational services has helped me and other students of the community to find the material from where we can acquire knowledge (Harasim, 2017).

This can be correlated with the aspect of humanization of online learning. The entire endeavour of the society to provide the relevant materials to the needy people of the community is an act of welfare and therefore, stems from humanity (Stephenson, 2018). It would contribute to the growth and development of the human community as a whole and as individual members of the society.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it can be observed that the field of technology has been able to revolutionize the sphere of education. Nowadays, the student community have a lot of various sources from where they can obtain knowledge. Thus, they are not confined only to books and articles.

second reflection

The difference between the online educational content and openly licensed educational content are:

OER or the open educational resources are the ones where the information is free and the users do not really need any kinds of permission to view the information. On the other hand the online educational content is the one that is often available in a certain amount (Tian, 2016). In other words the information is always not available in a proper amount and the users may not have the permission to view the entire information (oerafrica.org. 2020). There is also a chance that the information that is available in the OER is authentic than in comparison to the ones that are found in the other online educational content.

OER Africa is one of the useful tutorials that have actually helped in understanding about the step by step process that will be helping in understanding about the right ways of using the information that is available. The evaluation process is as follows-

Relevance

There is enough relevance because they try to fulfill the objective like to bridge the gap between different countries and colleges.

Accuracy

The information available is accurate and also there is no spelling errors or any errors in grammar. The information taught is about many authentic aspects like educational technology, Indigenization and also many other such useful aspects

Production quality

The design of the site is done in proper manner and also it enhances the overall look of the site and students will be getting attracted towards studying the content from this site (bccampus.ca. 2020).

The audio have been developed in a proper way and the students will be getting attracted to the same.

 Accessibility

This is accessible as the students can easily read the content from the website and the content is written in the form of document (.doc).

Interactivity

The content encourages active learning and also students will be encouraged as they will be able to appear for the assignments and the questions.

Licensing

The information available is totally reusable as the students can use the same for writing their assignments several times. Active learning is encouraged because students can also carry on a proper group study (Gough, Giffen & Woodward, 2018).

I will be using this in a step by step process in my future life. I feel that this will surely be of a great help in my professional work. This is because I will be able to use a step by step method in order to understand the ways in which I will be able to use the information from the OER and then be able to make sure that this is being incorporated in my own researches and also in all the professional works that I am undertaking. I will also be able to make sure that I am not making use of any unauthentic or wrong information in my work. It is for this reason that I will always make use of the open and freely available   information that I will be getting from using the open educational resources.
